We are primarily responsible for the ringing of the bells of St Francis Xavier (known as SFX), the Roman Catholic parish church of Everton. The site has been extensively rebuilt by Hope University, and with their help the bells have been rehung, which are a glorious 1920 eight by John Taylor & Co.
How to find SFX:
Our practices are on Friday evenings between 18:00 and 19:00, and afterwards we usually head into town to join the practice at Pier Head (12 bells, tenor 41-3-15). On Sundays we ring from 9:45 to 10:15am, and then often go for breakfast. Many LUSCR members also support other local towers on weekdays and Sundays, but don’t feel obliged to do so.
Here’s a map of the University of Liverpool campus and SFX church:
SFX is a 10 minute walk from Lime Street, the town centre and the University of Liverpool campus. If you are driving, there is parking alongside Langsdale Street or Salisbury Street, outside the church.
